I currently work as a freelance FX Artist making mostly custom costumes and props for films and businesses. Hey man. By far the best ME2 Armors I have seen made out there. No one seems to have a good male Shep armor… Anyways, I am making my own male Shep armor. Using foam and mats is a cool idea, I didn’t think of it lol. I’m making mine out of balsa wood, and will paint the carbon fiber texture later. I have the chest piece finished, working on arms and back. I’m loving the Mass Effect 2 costume man it looks amazing so far. I’ll tell you what though, you are very gifted thats for sure. Out of curiosity do you sell these? or only on occasions? If so how much would it be roughly to purchase the male version of the commander Shepard costume? If you dont mind me asking.

Hey man, I stumbled onto your blog while researching ways to make armor. I was planning on making…strangely enough, N7 armor. I had never seen anyone do Shepard cosplay and wanted to be one of the first. Well anyway I think the stuff looks amazing. I saw that you mentioned Dragon*Con. I’ll be going as well, if you are willing, I would like to get in touch with you and see the armor up close at the Con…I’m in awe from the pictures but I would absolutely love to see it in real life.
Looks like I’ll be looking for a new costume for the following year.

First I would like to say that you are a genius on the design and materials used to create the Bio Mass N7 Armor – that was outstanding – I actually lost sleep last night thinking about after I came across it on the web – where you posted photos on s costume board. Outstanding – absolutely outstanding.
A few questions if you don’t mind – and I think these were actually answered by others or your self in the photo’s.
How do you get your bends and curves to stay? Does the foam stay bent after you heat it with a heat gun and then mold it around curved items to get the desire shape? Or do you cut out curved pieces that are then bonded together?
The extra pieces – on the arms – back – what are those made out of? I think the photos you submitted were upfront in this explanation – that you cut the various pieces and then bonded them together to get the desired effect. Like the piece on the arm gauntlet – the built up part – it’s all made out of foam – is this correct?
The bonding or glue that you use – is it hot glue – epoxy – liquid steel ??? I think I read where you said it was hot glue to keep the entire cost of the project to a minimum? Just checking.
All in all – the ideas and solutions that you put into the N7 armor was mind blowing – the straps – the parts that allowed movement (You Tube video) – basically I spent like 2 hrs going through everything you did – but just checking to see I understood your process.
Bottom line – not that I play video games – but the Hellgate London Templar armor is something I have been looking at creating – even though the game itself never caught on – the armor is an art in itself – and your N7 Armor – matches a lot of what I wanted to do – you basically save me a ton in material costs – and it’s light weight – unlike fiberglass being shaped – molded – and in the non-comfort of it all. Your are definitely brilliant!!!

i love your n7 armour ive always wanted to make my own but i lack the experties you have.
i was just woundering if you sell the armour or if you have any pattern and instrustions that i could follow to make my own, also what kind of paint did you use

Hey, all of your work is incredible, truly professional quality.
I’ve been wanting to make an M8 avenger rifle, using either the EVA foam or extruded polystyrene. First question; which do you think would be better to use, and secondly do you have blue prints and or measurements for the M8?

I don’t really use templates as much as I freehand and eyeball it. #1 question is “can I get patterns?” ,. sorry but I don’t really have any to give.

Hey evilfx, I can’t seem to find any of your prices.
I’ve been a big Mass Effect fan, and I was really looking to put time and money into Shepard’s N7 armor, could you tell me how much it would cost to make it myself or how much it would cost for a commission?
But I also wanted to know if you’ve had a chance to see the Adept armor from the ME3 multiplayer yet. That would be an interesting armor to have in real life. I almost want that a little more.

Pricing is listed on the order page of my Bioweapons.com site. I have played thru the solo demo for ME3 but that’s all so far,.. haven’t had time to try the multipayer yet. Materials only, the suits cost about 2 to 3 hundred each to make, but a lot of time involved.

This morning I woke up and looked at my list of things that I’m saving up for, and I started thinking about the N7 armor you make. I’m planning to put that on my list, but I have a serious question that could make or break my dreams:
I’m 6′ 8″. Could the armor even fit me?
I know that it’s one size fits most, but I’m a tall guy.
And if it wont, would it even be possible for you to make a taller suit?

So in love with your mass effect costumes! I’m trying to follow your tutorial.
I was just wondering though, how long and hot should I broil my Eva foam to do the breast plate? And does it stink up the oven or melt?

It can and will melt if you leave it in too long,.. only takes a matter of seconds and requires continuous inspection while heating. There is no set amount of time to heat it,.. all variables based on oven type, foam manufacturer, thickness, distance from coils, electric or gas, etc, etc. Best way to learn is trial and error. Keep a vent fan running, windows open, good ventilation, etc, as it will stink a bit. I usually heat at around 350 with the oven door OPEN.
